Start Finding Files in a Scanned Electronic Document System

I am an advocate of going paperless.  There are many reasons that can be explored and the first one that I want to examine is being able to find things. I can’t begin to think of all the times I’ve run around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to find a particular file or letter or bill…..it goes on and on.  First I would look where it should be. Then where it might be. It always seems that this elusive piece of paper is one step ahead of me. Has this ever happened to you.

My looking for something has some humor to it, but if it is a doctor or a police department looking for some records that are misplaced it could be a tragedy. So what is the answer to this problem?

First, you have to make the decision to move  forward and then get your important documents and start scanning them into the appropriate files on your computer.  Break your documents down by categories…from, date, type, keywords etc.  The best way to set this up is in a manner that is familiar to you, such as file cabinets and folders.  Then when you need something you can easily find it on your computer.  Take it a step further and you can also do this on the internet so that you can find documents wherever you are.
